Re: Fund Balance Notification for June 30, 2017
Pursuant to Hawai'i County Code Section 2-12.4, I am transmitting the June 30, 2017, fund
balance information:
Fund Balance $ 88,925.32
Fund Balance Designated for Future Year 20,234,681.00
Total Budgetary Fund Balance, June 30, 2017 $20,323,606.32
The fund balance was the net result of revenues, such as public service company tax, being less
than budgeted, and expenditures in several areas being lower than expected due to careful
spending by the departments. Another component of the fund balance is the unappropriated fund
balance from the prior fiscal year.
This fund balance will be helpful in meeting next year's budgetary needs. Balancing the fiscal
, year 2018-19 budget will continue to be challenging given the current economic climate.
