RESOLUTION NO. 369 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA TAHITI
FETE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE KONA TAHITI
FETE 2017.
WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to contribute to the enrichment of youth and young
adults by enhancing their understanding of their ancestral heritage; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association and the TeMana
Rose Tahitian School of Dance are hosting the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 on November 1-4; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 will consist of various Polynesian groups that
will share their culture through dance, craft, music, art, language, and cuisine at the
Kekuaokalani Gymnasium; and
WHEREAS,the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association has requested
funds as a reimbursement for advertising and hiring of an audio technician for the Kona Tahiti
Fete 2017; and
WHEREAS,this event falls within the Department of Research and Development's
goals to increase the economic contribution of the visitor industry to Hawai`i Island, promote
quality experiences for visitors, and promote a high quality of life for Hawai`i Island residents;
and .
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural
Association for the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
