RESOLUTION NO. 371 147
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SELF DISCOVERY
THROUGH ART TO OFFER ITS RRR PROGRAM IN PAHOA.
WHEREAS, Self Discovery Through Art is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
supports community building and family strengthening through art and the creative process; and
WHEREAS, the RRR is an"art as medicine" group program that focuses on the
concepts of Recovery from loss, Resilience as a bridge from loss, and ReCreation of a life worth
living; and
WHEREAS,participation in the program will teach individuals to rely more on their
strengths and to access community resources when facing challenges and adversities to reduce
the financial and social services burden on County resources; and
WHEREAS, Self Discovery Through Art would like to offer its RRR program at the
Pahoa Neighborhood Facility and is requesting funds to defray the costs of workbooks, supplies,
refreshments, and publicity; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports programs that build
communities and strengthens families; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Self Discovery Through Art to defray the costs of
offering its RRR program in Pahoa.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
