RESOLUTION NO. 372 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF
THE FUTURE FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES INCURRED FROM THE
2ND ANNUAL DOMESTIC PEACE WALK AND VIGIL IN WAIMEA.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions
harmony and balance among the diverse people of Hawai`i and encourages everybody to
contribute their deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve Hawai`i Island
communities; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future worked in partnership with the Domestic Violence
Awareness Committee to coordinate the 2nd Annual Domestic Peace Walk and Vigil in Waimea,
which was held on October 14, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting a reimbursement for expenses incurred
from the 2nd Annual Domestic Peace Walk and Vigil, including, but not limited to, educational
material, t-shirts, banners, and posters; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic violence
prevention and intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life for Hawai`i Island residents;
and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Friends of the Future for the reimbursement of
expenses incurred from the 2nd Annual Domestic Peace Walk and Vigil in Waimea.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
