ORDER OF RESOLUTIONS
Res. 374-17: AMENDS RESOLUTION NO. 360-16, DRAFT 2, WHICH ACCEPTED THE
DONATION OF LOT 31 OF THE HAWAIIAN PARADISE PARK SUBDIVISION,
BEING TAX MAP KEY: 1-5-039:267, SITUATED AT KEA'AU, DISTRICT OF
PUNA, COUNTY AND STATE OF HAWAII, FROM HAWAIIAN PARADISE
PARK OWNERS ASSOCIATION
Extends the deadline to complete the master plan for a County park on this donated
property to March 17, 2019. If the master plan is not completed by March 17, 2019,
the Director of Finance is instructed to revert ownership of the subject parcel to the
Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association.

AGREEMENT WITH THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH SERVICES, UNIVERSITY
OF HAWAI`I
Provides $7,999.20 from the Department of Research and Development to the Office
of Research Services, University of Hawai`i, to fund its "Improving Sustainability of
Sweet Potato through Virus-tested, Tissue-culture Technology"proposal. Funds
would be used to conduct farm trials comparing yields of sweet potatoes grown from
a commercial source of cuttings with those of virus-tested, tissue-cultured planting
materials, and graft plant material to multiply existing sweet potato viruses to reach
detection levels.

A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 360-16, DRAFT 2, WHICH ACCEPTED
THE DONATION OF LOT 31 OF THE HAWAIIAN PARADISE PARK SUBDIVISION,
BEING TAX MAP KEY: (3)1-5-039:267, SITUATED AT KEA'AU,DISTRICT OF PUNA,
COUNTY AND STATE OF HAWAII, FROM HAWAIIAN PARADISE PARK OWNERS
ASSOCIATION.
WHEREAS, On January 22, 2016, the Council adopted Resolution No. 360-16, Draft 2, which
authorized the County to accept the donation of a nearly 20-acre lot from the Hawaiian Paradise Park
Owners Association for the purpose of developing a County park within the Hawaiian Paradise Park
subdivision; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 360-16, Draft 2, established a two-year requirement for
completion of a master plan for the park with the requirement to begin on the date that the property
was successfully conveyed to the County; and
WHEREAS,the lot was successfully conveyed to the County of Hawai`i on March 17, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 360-16, Draft 2, included an instruction that the Director of
Finance be required to revert the donation of Lot 31 of the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision from
the County of Hawai`i back to the Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association if the two-year
condition was not met; and
WHEREAS,the Council seeks to extend the two-year condition by an additional year, and the
Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association is in agreement with this extension; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that the
Council hereby amends Resolution No. 360-16, Draft 2, by extending the deadline to complete the
master plan for the County park to be located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision to March 17,
2019.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Parks and Recreation is directed to
complete a master plan for this park on or before March 17, 2019.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if the master plan is not completed by March 17, 2019,
this donation shall be deemed invalid and the Director of Finance is directed to take steps to revert
ownership of the subject parcel to the Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to: the Honorable
Harry Kim, Mayor; the Department of Parks and Recreation; Deputy Corporation Counsel J
Yoshimoto; and Hawaiian Paradise Park Owners Association, HC 3, Box 11000, Kea'au, Hawai`i
96749.
