Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 521, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 521, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated September 29, 2017,
nominates Ms. Beverly Ann Blake to the Hawai`i County North Kohala Community
Development Plan Action Committee.
Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Ms. Blake who appeared in
person. Ms. Blake recently moved to the Big Island and states that she is a member of the
Democratic Party. If confirmed, Ms. Blake will serve a term ending September 9, 2021.
Several Council Members commented in favor of Ms. Blake. The vote was then taken with eight
Council Members voting "aye." Chair Eoff stated that Ms. Blake did not need to appear at the
Council meeting on November 2, 2017, for confirmation of her appointment.
Pursuant to Article 3, Section 16-5 of the Hawai`i County Code, the Community Development
Plan Action Committees shall consist of nine members, and shall be appointed by the Mayor and
approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 521, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Beverly Ann Blake to the Hawai`i
County North Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee.
