Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 345-17, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 345-17, transmitted by Finance Director Collins Tomei, via Communication
No. 507 dated September 29, 2017, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the
Office of Research Services, University of Hawai`i.
This agreement provides $5,000 from the Department of Research and Development to the Office
of Research Services, University of Hawai`i, to fund its "Tea Variety Release for Hawai`i
2017-2018"proposal. Funds would be used to publicize the release of a new tea variety to
growers through a field day and a Tea 101 basic workshop to cover tea propagation, cultivation,
harvesting, processing, and marketing.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 345-17,
and recommends its adoption.
