Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I have a very important message for you, that has the Islands
best interests in mind.
PLEASE HOLD THE FOAM. Being an adult with a will to help preserve the longevity of this gorgeous
island I am begging you to pass the act that will help keep Hawaii from drowning in single use styrofoam
items.
With the technology of- REUSABLE glassware or even BPA free plastic containers. I find that there is
no reason for the use of single use foam containers for drink or food... It is not only bad for your personal
health but also the health of the land. If the single use foam doesn't end up in the trash to be taken to the
landfill you can find all sorts of this stuff in the nature around you. From street gutters to outside your
favorite local stores.
It saddens me to think that being in 2017 that the idea of a foam free island is only a dream... It outrages
me to think that the locals and new comers are not more adamant at wanting to properly take care of their
beloved 'Aina.
Filling trash cans full of landfill worthy items not only is wasteful but it is polluting the land!We are literally
dumping tons of easily avoided trash into the Island month after month.
I am asking that you, the Council will find the logic in our movement. It isn't more expensive to bring
containers from home- It only takes some common sense and a will to do better. I think that this is
something we should be asking of the people of Hawaii.
I am happy to be an example for them and even hold a class where I can help the people who wish to be
apart of the movement do so in an effective way... I have already begun to say NO to straws, I bring my
own containers now when I go out to eat and I am an avid trash picker upper whenever I am out and
about. It is ALL of our responsibility to help keep his Island trash and foam free and I am more than
willing to work for the outcome of my dreams.
Please help us protect this gorgeous place we all call home and HOLD THE FOAM.
