Aloha Hawaii Island Council Members,
I am emailing testimony in support of Bill 13 -polystyrene reduction bill.Our island is home to many unique
species on land and in the ocean,and it is imperative as stewards of this island that we protect it.EPS(polystyrene
foam,styrofoam)breaks up rather easily,increasing the probability for accidental ingestion by birds and marine life
when it is improperly disposed of.Consider that even when EPS products are properly disposed of they do not
biodegrade and they are currently not accepted as recyclable items.It is simply waste.We see it everyday when we
drive down our roads and highways, and unfortunately at our beaches.We have already banned plastic bags, it is
now time that we take the next step to lessen our environmental impact and protect our land and ocean life.I urge
you to vote in support of Bill 13 -polystyrene reduction bill.
