II: 32 Subject: Bill 13 Date: Wednesday,September 06,2017 10:08:23 AM Dear Council: I hope you support the ban of anything styrofoam. While the revisions still allow it only partially,I think it's a good start and a compromise that is headed in the right direction, hopefully one day all styrofoam can be banned period. We own a business and only use biodegradable and compostable ware. There are plenty of suppliers on the island but we source from sustainable island products and Hawaiian paper products. We believe it was the right thing to do. We also take our own wares to businesses we frequent who unfortunately still use styrofoam. When we encourage them to switch their ware they say the cost is too much.We have been able to factor the cost into our pricing and still do well.I think all businesses can do this and a slight increase in their pricing will not deter customers.Instead it will show them that that they value Hawaii's Aina. When you factor in the cost of environmental degradation, the cost on land fills and the cost to future generations, then a slight increase in businesses'prices is insignificant to the latter. You have been elected to be the voice of the people,to do the right thing. Here is your chance to do the right thing. Don't be short sighted, think long-range and think of the consequences of our collective actions here on this lovely island we call home. It's time... Thanks for your consideration.
