Y CLERK From: Ohara, Eileen "COUNT Y OF HAWAII To: Council Testimony Subject: FW: RES 250-17: Illegal,Cruel,&Heartless - Date: Tuesday,September 05,2017 5:15:55 PM 2011 SEP .®6 AN 11: 9 From: Cyanatus [mailto:cyanatus808@gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, September 03, 2017 4:30 PM - To: Poindexter, Valerie; Chung, Aaron; Lee Loy, Sue; Ohara, Eileen; Ruggles, Jennifer; David, Maile; Kanuha, Dru; Eoff, Karen; Richards,Tim Subject: RES 250-17: Illegal, Cruel, &Heartless Aloha, I'm writing to voice my strong opposition to Resolution 250- 17. RES 250- 17 authorizes Cyanotech to enter the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant to perform animal control on so-called "predators," including cats (some of whom appear to be abandoned pets), as well as mongoose and cattle egrets. The Doc-250 lethal traps used by Cyanotech's hired exterminator are vicious and cruel, brutally crushing the terrified animals to death . The exterminator also plans to use air rifles to shoot the egrets. Killing pet species (e. g ., cats) is illegal animal cruelty. according to both federal and Hawaii state law. Cyanotech claims it is "looking out for the birds" at its proposed site. That may well be the case; Comm NO. 3(62..? Ref. To: 4ae Dated o 7, however, cruelly annihilating other animals-- particularly nimals-- particularly domesticated creatures such as cats, which can be trapped and removed by local rescue groups such as AdvoCats and Catsn i p--is an unacceptable and irrational proposition . Please comply with our anti-cruelty laws, have a heart, and record your vote against this resolution . Mahalo, Cy Lee Waikoloa
