RE: Nomination of Roxcie Waltjen — Communication 488
Parks &Recreation Director
The Hawaii Classic Cruizers, Inc., works with Roxcie Waltjen every year for the
annual 4th of July Hilo Bay Blast in Downtown Hilo. This large-scale event attracts
thousands of people every summer and has helped the Hawaii Classic Cruizers, Inc., put
Hilo on the map in national hot rod magazines across the United States. Roxcie's
organizational skills, "can-do" attitude, and vision have made this event a success every
year.
Roxcie brings the community and government together while keeping
everyone's safety in mind. She considers all aspects of putting on an event before
executing. Roxcie does her homework. Roxcie is smart, well-liked, organized and simply
a "go-getter".
Roxcie is an asset to the County's Department of Parks & Recreation. The County
is lucky to have someone with her background, experience and level-headedness as its
next Director. Roxcie understands the culture, values and the people of Hawai'i Island.
We support the nomination of Roxcie Waltjen as the Director of Parks & Recreation for
the County of Hawaii.
