Your Committee on Economic Development to which was referred
'``Resolution No. 271-87 , reports as follows .
The purpose of this Resolution is to support the establishment of a
Hawaii Pavilion in the World Expo ' 88 in Brisbane, Australia , and
recommends that the State Department of Planning and Economic
Development pursue the financial and other negotiations to secure
Hawaii ' s involvement in this event.
The World Expo ' 88 is scheduled to be held in Brisbane, Australia ,
from April to October 1988 . Six Pacific Island nations and other
Pacific rim powers have committed to participate in this showcasing
of a nation' s products , services, and attractions . Hawaii ' s
involvement in the Expo will provide both short and long term
benefits important to the economic well-being and stability of
Australia and Hawaii .
Your Committee on Economic Development concurs with Resolution
No. 271.87 and recommends its adoption .
