Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No . 184,
reports as follows:
Bill No . 184 amends Chapter 25, Article 1 , Division 5, Section 25-28
of the Hawaii County Code , 1983 , relating to Use Permits .
The purpose of this bill is to allow attorneys to establish their
offices in residential districts .
Bill 184 was first heard by your Committee on May 27, 1986, at which
time it was referred to the Planning Department for their review and
comments .
On June 18, 1986 , the Planning Department wrote to Committee Chairman
Takashi Domingo , recommending against the adoption of Bill 184 . The
Planning Department expressed concern that adoption of this bill may
create a "snow-balling effect " with similar amendments eventually
being requested by accountants , realtors, etc .
Your Committee , at its October 24, 1988 meeting, concurred with the
recommendation of Committee Chairman Domingo , that the file on
Bill 184 be closed .
Your Committee on Planning is not in accord with the intent and
purpose of Bill 184 and recommends that its file be closed .
