A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY TO
PURCHASE COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM COMMUNICATIONS
EQUIPMENT FOR PA`AUILO AND LAUPAHOEHOE.
WHEREAS, the Civil Defense Agency Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
program is a 27-hour certification course that provides fundamental training and skills to support
CERT teams around Hawai`i Island in the areas of basic disaster response, fire safety, light
rescue, team and responder coordination, and basic medical care; and
WHEREAS, in partnership with the Civil Defense Agency, CERT volunteers give their
time to respond to emergencies at home, work, and in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Defense Agency requests funding assistance for CERT
communications equipment for Pa'auilo and Laupahoehoe; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Civil Defense
Agency to purchase CERT communications equipment for Pa'auilo and Laupahoehoe.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Civil Defense Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
