J�[Y OF y, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •I STATE OF HAWAII <br /> BITE...Hilt` <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 381 1 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH <br /> EXPENSES RELATED TO THE LITTLE FIRE ANT IDENTIFICATION EVENT HELD <br /> AT THE WEST HAWAII CIVIC CENTER. <br /> WHEREAS,the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist Big Island residents in <br /> achieving sustainable development while caring for their natural environment to ensure <br /> sustainability, economic opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Little Fire Ant (LFA) Hui is a coalition of state, county officers,private <br /> and public entities, and community members working collaboratively to raise awareness and <br /> control of little fire ants; and <br /> WHEREAS,the LFA Hui's vision is an island where everyone can work, recreate, and <br /> live free from little fire ants harm now and for future generations; and <br /> WHEREAS,to support efforts to control LFA, BIRCDC partnered with the LFA Hui at <br /> the LFA identification(ID) event held at the West Hawai`i Civic Center on October 21, 2017, to <br /> provide the community with on-site assistance to immediately identify ant specimens suspected <br /> to be LFA; and <br /> WHEREAS, one goal of the Department of Research and Development is to support <br /> LFA and/or invasive species research or extension projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to reimburse its costs for advertising, which <br /> includes printer ink, paper, business cards, and an informational banner; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation and <br /> Development Council to reimburse costs for advertising expenses and office supplies related to <br /> the Little Fire Ant ID event in West Hawai`i. <br />
