J�[Y OF y, COUNTY OF HAWAII •I STATE OF HAWAII BITE...Hilt` RESOLUTION NO. 381 1 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE LITTLE FIRE ANT IDENTIFICATION EVENT HELD AT THE WEST HAWAII CIVIC CENTER. WHEREAS,the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist Big Island residents in achieving sustainable development while caring for their natural environment to ensure sustainability, economic opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives; and WHEREAS,the Little Fire Ant (LFA) Hui is a coalition of state, county officers,private and public entities, and community members working collaboratively to raise awareness and control of little fire ants; and WHEREAS,the LFA Hui's vision is an island where everyone can work, recreate, and live free from little fire ants harm now and for future generations; and WHEREAS,to support efforts to control LFA, BIRCDC partnered with the LFA Hui at the LFA identification(ID) event held at the West Hawai`i Civic Center on October 21, 2017, to provide the community with on-site assistance to immediately identify ant specimens suspected to be LFA; and WHEREAS, one goal of the Department of Research and Development is to support LFA and/or invasive species research or extension projects; and WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to reimburse its costs for advertising, which includes printer ink, paper, business cards, and an informational banner; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council to reimburse costs for advertising expenses and office supplies related to the Little Fire Ant ID event in West Hawai`i.
