Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No . 502,
regarding the State Land Use Boundary amendment request of
Lillia Krieger , et . al . , North Kona, Hawaii , TMK : 7-9-12 : 18 , reports
as follows:
Bill No . 502 amends the State Land Use Boundaries Map, H-8 , of the
County of Hawaii , by changing the district classification of
7 .099 acres of land from Agricultural to Rural .
While the Planning Commission is recommending approval of the
boundary amendment request, the Planning Director is recommending
denial because the proposed amendment violates Section 205-2,
Hawaii Revised Statutes , and is inconsistent with the State Land Use
Regulations and the County General Plan .
According to the Planning Department, much of the land is used for
small scale orchards of banana, coffee , avocados , macadamia nuts and
lychee . The applicants plan to continue the orchards .
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill No . 502 and recommends that it pass first reading .
