Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 483 ,
regarding the rezoning request of Hamakua Sugar Co. , Inc. , Hamakua,
Hawaii , TMK: 4-2-3:portion of 3 , reports as follows:
Bill No. 483 amends Section 25-99, Article 3, Chapter 25 of the
Hawaii County Code, by changing the district classification of
2,708 square feet of land from Agricultural (A-40a ) to Single Family •
Residential (RS-7 .5) .
The rezoning application involves two very small strips of land
which, according to Hamakua Sugar Co. , are not suitable for
agricultural purposes . The sugar company plans to deed these remnant
parcels to the Tanoue family who owns an abutting parcel .
The General Plan designates the area for Low Density Urban
Development . The State Land Use district classification is
Agricultural. The zoning designation is Agricultural (A-40a) .
All essential utilities and services are readily available to the
property.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill No. 483 and recommends that it pass first reading.
