Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members of the County Council:
SUBJECT: Negotiated Cost Items, Hawaii Government Employees Association
Bargaining Units 02, 03, 04, 13 and Employees Excluded from those
Bargaining Units
In accordance with Section 89-10(b), HRS, attached for council action is a resolution to
approve the cost items agreed upon by the Employers and the Hawaii Government Employees
Association (HGEA) for bazgaining units 02, 03, 04, 13 and employees excluded from those
bazgaining units. The settlement covers the period from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1999.
Cost items presented for your consideration are across-the-boazd increases and a continuation
of step movements over the two yeazs.
Attached as exhibits to the resolution aze schedules showing the total cost of these various
adjustments over the two years of the contract.
Please note that the budget as presented to you for FY2000 contains no appropriation to
cover these increases. If the Council intends to act favorably on the attached resolution,
the Council must first provide the funding within the budget.
