your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication
No . 1283 , reports as follows:
Communication 1283 is a letter from Mayor Dante Carpenter to
Chairman Stephen Yamashiro and members of the County Council ,
informing the Council that Governor John Waihee had asked him to
recommend at least three individuals for possible appointment to the
State Plan Policy Council .
The Mayor is seeking the Council 's advice and consent prior to
forwarding the names of the following individuals to the Governor :
• 1 . Mr . Keola Childs
2 . Mr . Morris Y. Kimura
3 . Mr . Neil Morriss
Communication 1283 was discussed by the County Council at its
October 7 , 1987 meeting. In view of the fact that the Mayor is
requesting that he be notified of the Council 's action no later than
October 19 , 1987 , the Council voted to grant the Planning Committee
the authority to make the final decision regarding the Mayor 's
request .
After reviewing the Mayor 's list of individuals , your Committee on
Planning agreed that Committee Chairman Takashi Domingo should write
to the Mayor to inform him of the Council 's consent .
