Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No . 348 ,
regarding the request of Huehue Ranch to amend the General Plan ,
reports as follows:
Bill 348 amends the General Plan Land Use Pattern Allocation Guide
Map by redesignating approximately 675 acres of land , identified by
Tax Map Key 7-2-04 :05 & 16 , located at Kukio, North Kona, Hawaii ,
from Conservation to Resort , Medium Density Urban, Low Density Urban
and Open . The General Plan Land Use element is also amended to
include Kukio as an Intermediate Resort area .
Bill 348 passed first reading of the County Council on April 15 , 1987
and , as per recommendation of the Planning Committee , was recommitted
to committee for further discussion . Another reason for recommitting
the bill was to allow Councilmembers time to review and comment on
the Kukio Beach Environmental Impact Statement which was only
recently forwarded to the Council .
Your Committee on Planning is now in full accord with the intent and
purpose of Bill No. 348 and recommends that it pass second and final
reading.
