Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Debra Lewis of District 2, to the Veterans Advisory
Committee. Ms. Lewis served in the US Army from 1980-2010 where she retired as a
colonel. She is a graduate of the US Military Academy (West Point) and the Harvard
Business School.
Since retiring from the military, Ms. Lewis has worked as an affiliate faculty at the
University of Hawai'i at Hilo, a CEO for a non-profit, and a consultant. She has also
generously volunteered her time to various organizations throughout the island
especially with the Hawai'i Island Veterans Memorial Committee, VFW Post 3830, and
the Veterans Day Parade to name a few. Ms. Lewis has lived in Hawai'i for
approximately 5 years.
Ms. Lewis states she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve
a term ending December 31, 2019.
