Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year,
for a new multi-year lease agreement for a sewer cleaning truck to be used by the
Department of Environmental Management, Wastewater Division. This equipment is
needed to replace the current sewer cleaning truck which is over ten years old and has
reached the end of its useful life.

A. REQUEST:
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for a Sewer Cleaning Truck for a
period of five (5) years for the Department of Environmental Management Wastewater Division.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):

The Wastewater Division is requesting to lease finance a Sewer Cleaning truck. The current sewer cleaning
truck is over 10 years old and and has reached the end of it's useful life . The debris body (which holds
material removed during the cleaning process) leaks and can no longer be used due to corrosion damage.
The Sewer Cleaning Truck is used to clean sewer main lines and service laterals as well as remove material
from lift station wet wells, treatment plant tanks and channels. Sanitary sewers must be cleaned on a routine
basis in order to prevent backups, blockages and spills.
The purchase price is estimated at $410,000. The estimated monthly lease payment is $7,300. This
equipment will be lease financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of the five year
lease.
Funding for this equipment is not included in the FY17-18 budget as delivery of this is not expected until next
fiscal year due to the long lead time for this equipment.
