HomeMy WebLinkAboutREP PC 062 10/22/1985 1984-1988 REPORT OF THE110 COMMITTEE ON PLANNING DATE: October 22, 1985 PLACE: Councilroom TIME: 1:30 p.m. Chairman and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No . 100-85 , regarding Congressional bills HR 1562 and S 680, reports as follows: Resolution No. 100-85 urges Congress and the President of the United States to prevent passage of bills HR 1562 and S 680 in order to protect Hawaii 's garment industry, which is one of Hawaii 's major industries . Congressional bills HR 1562 and S 680 propose to reduce America 's import of apparel and textiles from eleven Asian nations and Brazil by 35% . Hawaii 's garment industry relies heavily on imported cloth for garment production and would face possible demise if textile imports are reduced.
