Your Committee on Planning to which was referred Communication 94 ,
from Laurence Capellas , Manager, Hawaii Redevelopment Agency,
regarding the Downtown Hilo Redevelopment Plan, reports as follows:
This communication informs the Council that the Hawaii Redevelopment
Agency, at its public meeting of March 1, 1985 , unanimously accepted
all 46 amendments to the Downtown Hilo Redevelopment Plan proposed by
the Council in Resolution No . 20-85 . The communication further
requests that the Council commence final action on the plan by
resolution.
Your Committee is aware that the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency is
currently updating the Downtown Hilo Redevelopment Plan with the
approved amendments . The amended document will be forwarded to the
Council upon completion .

Your Committee also heard statements from Mr . ga g
his concerns on the height limitations of downtown Hilo. The Hilo
Downtown Development plan (1974) sets various height limitations for
downtown Hilo at two, four , seven, and ten stories . The proposed
Downtown Hilo Redevelopment Plan allows buildings up to 120 feet..
Mr . De Lima indicated that the proposed Downtown Hilo Redevelopment
Plan should reflect the height limitations of the Hilo Downtown
Development Plan.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the Downtown Hilo
Redevelopment Plan, as amended, and requests that Council commence
with final action on the plan by resolution, upon the Hawaii
Redevelopment Agency ' s submission of the updated Plan .
