your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication
o. 42 , regarding the submission of names to the State Plan Policy
Council , reports as follows:
This communication submits names of three prospective nominees for
the East Hawaii vacancy created by the resignation of
Lorraine Jitchaku .
Pursuant to Section 226-53 , Hawaii Revised Statutes , the Mayor is
required to submit names of at least three prospective nominees
within 30 days of receipt of the Governor 's notification . The
Council , in turn , is required to approve the Mayor 's nominees within
30 days of receipt of the transmittal .
The names and brief biographical data of the Mayor 's nominees are as
follows:
1 . Jitsuo Kotake of Honokaa is a retired Kohala Hospital
Administrator . He served on the County Water Commission
until December 31, 1984 .
2 . Hiram T. Hagiwara of Hilo is an independent insurance agent .
He served on the Board of the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency
until December 31, 1984 .
3 . Edward E. Crook of Naalehu retired from ADM Hawaii , Inc. in
November , 1983 .
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the above nominees , as
submitted by the Mayor , and recommends Council approval .
