Your Committee on Planning to which was referred Bill No. 6 regarding
the rezoning request of Mauna Lani Resort , Inc . ,
TMK: 6-8-22 : Portions of 2 and 9 , reports as follows:
The purpose of this bill is to change the district classification
from Multiple Residential - 1,500 square foot (RM-1 .5) and Multiple
Residential - 3 ,000 square foot (RM-3 ) to a Village Commercial -
10 ,000 square foot (CV-10 ) zoned district at Waikoloa, South Kohala,
Hawaii .
The zone change is necessary to allow for the development of a tennis
club. Refinement of the petitioner ' s present and long range
development plans require additional area under the CV-10 zoning
designation.
The requested zone change conforms to the General Plan which
designates the Mauna Lani Resort , Inc . ' s lands as a self-contained
major resort destination area. The petitioner intends to develop
such a resort destination area in accordance with the guidelines set
forth in the General Plan and conditions outlined in the previous
change of zone ordinance .
All essential utilities and services will be made available to the
property .
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill No . 6 and recommends that it pass first reading .
