A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME
HAWAII FOR ITS IN-REACH AND REINTEGRATION PILOT PROJECT IN WEST
HAWAII.
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to assist
offenders that have been released from correctional institutions to reintegrate into the
community; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i's "In-Reach and Reintegration"pilot project in West
Hawai`i is designed to reduce the numbers of chronically homeless and mentally ill individuals
incarcerated at the Hawai`i Community Correctional Center, including those with co-occurring
substance use disorders; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to improve the
criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other
criminal justice agencies and the community; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is seeking funds to help pay for housing expenses,
transportation to and from compliance appointments, client monitoring, and related intensive
case management needs; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY.THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Going Home Hawai`i for its In-Reach and
Reintegration Pilot Project in West Hawai`i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
