A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA TAHITI
FETE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE KONA TAHITI
FETE 2017 FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to contribute to the enrichment of youth and young
adults by enhancing their understanding of their ancestral heritage; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association and the TeMana
Rose Tahitian School of Dance hosted the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 festival from October 29
through November 8; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 festival consisted of various Polynesian groups
that shared their culture through dance, craft, music, art, language, and cuisine at various venues
throughout West Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural Association has requested
funds as a reimbursement for transportation costs incurred during the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017
festival; and
WHEREAS,the Kona Tahiti Fete 2017 festival falls within the Department of Parks and
Recreation's culture and education program that promotes, perpetuates, and encourages activities
and programs in culture, art, history, and the humanities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Kona Tahiti Fete Educational and Cultural
Association for reimbursement of transportation expenses incurred duirng the Kona Tahiti Fete
2017 festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
