RESOLUTION NO. 407 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST WITH.EXPENSES FOR THE 2018
OUTSTANDING OLDER AMERICANS AWARD LUNCHEON.
WHEREAS, in 1963,the month of May was designated as Senior Citizens Month by
President John F. Kennedy and was later renamed to Older Americans Month in 1980 by
President Jimmy Carter; and
WHEREAS, Older Americans Month continues to be celebrated locally and across the
country through ceremonies, events, and fairs; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of Older Americans Month, the Hawai`i County Office of
Aging hosts the annual Outstanding Older Americans Award Luncheon, which recognizes
Hawai`i Island's kupuna for their extraordinary efforts and contributions to our community; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Aging has requested funds to assist with facility and luncheon
expenses associated with hosting the Outstanding Older Americans Award Luncheon on May 4,
2018; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to
assist with expenses associated with the annual Outstanding Older Americans Award Luncheon
on May 4, 2018.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

OUT AND FROM:
010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC—Contingency Relief. $3,000

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Executive on Aging and Director of Finance, and that the Director of.Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
