CALL TO ORDER: A public hearing to consider proposed fuel tax rates for fiscal years July 1, 2017,
to June 30, 2018; July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019; and July 1, 2019, to June 30,
2020, was called to order by Chair Valerie T. Poindexter at 5 p.m., in the Council
Chambers, Kailua-Kona.

PURPOSE OF CHR. POINDEXTER: Pursuant to the requirements of Chapter 243,
HEARING: Section 243-5 of the Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that the
following public hearing—this public hearing is held today for the purpose of
considering the fuel tax rates for the County of Hawai‘i.

Point of Order: MR. KANUHA: Madam Chair,just a point of order. I know a couple of members
asked if we would debate tonight, but just can you explain that this is just a public
hearing?
CHR. POINDEXTER: Yeah, it's a public hearing—
MR. KANUHA: And tomorrow, we're going to be doing—
CHR. POINDEXTER: Yeah. So, there's no discussion at this public
hearing. But tomorrow, we will be going into full discussion and you're
welcome to come back and testify on that item as well tomorrow. And
then we will have a—you can stay for the discussion that we will have
among our Council Members. So, thank you very much, and thank you.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further speakers to come before the Council, at 5:26 p.m.,
Chair Poindexter adjourned the meeting.
