• <br /> JNtYOFN ;' <br /> 414, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> *Fret;;‘ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 40. , 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE SMOKE DETECTOR PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Fire Department, through partnerships with the Office of <br /> Aging,the American Red Cross, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, will <br /> provide fire-safety home inspections, fire education, and installation of, or battery replacement <br /> for, smoke detectors in qualifying senior homes; and <br /> WHEREAS, most of Hawai`i Island's elderly live in homes that were built prior to 1991, <br /> and the building code at the time did not require smoke detectors thus leaving them vulnerable in <br /> the event of a fire; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Fire Department, Fire Prevention Division, has identified the <br /> need for funds to purchase smoke detectors for its Smoke Detector Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, this program, which began in 2011, has proven its success and commitment <br /> to life safety and property conservation; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire <br /> Department for the purchase and installation of smoke detectors in Hamdkua. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br /> FUND: General <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $2,000 <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC—Contingency Relief $2,000 <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> 010.221.5224.02 Hawai`i Fire Department $2,000 <br /> Fire Prevention OCE <br /> 235 Misc. Materials & Supplies <br /> (Smoke Detector Program—Hamakua) <br />
