Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year,
for a new multi-year lease agreement for a Pitney Bowes Digital Mailing System to be
used by the Hawai`i.County Police Department. This equipment replaces a unit
purchased in 2007 which is now obsolete. The approximate lease cost is $176.74 per
month for 60 months.

A. REQUEST:
To enter into a multi-year lease agreement for 60 months for a Pitney Bowes DM400C Digital Mailing System
to be located at the South Hilo Storeroom at the Public Safety Building Complex.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The current DM800 Digital Mailing system purchased back in 2007 is now obsolete and Pitney Bowes has
informed us that they will no longer provide service maintenance or parts, and any USPS rates will no longer
be updated or downloaded to the current machine.
The Department is anticipating a monthly lease cost of$176.74 for the 60 months. This cost includes the
lease, meter rental fee and maintenance.
