.'�V�tY of�1jf7 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -•� �'''= '%:� STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,rE OF-N--- <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 416 17 <br /> • <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND <br /> UNITED WAY FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2017-2018 COMMUNITY <br /> OUTREACH INITIATIVE AND COMMUNITY MEETINGS IN WEST HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way (HIUW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier community; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW partners with 38 agencies and 48 community programs by <br /> supporting local community organizations that focus on health and wellness efforts related to <br /> substance use and abuse prevention; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW and partners reached over 75% of Hawai`i Island as a result of its <br /> community outreach initiative; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting funds to assist with advertising expenses relating to its <br /> 2017-2018 community outreach initiative, and to help pay for tables, chairs, and equipment <br /> needed to hold community meetings in West Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs and <br /> organizations that promote a healthy and safe environment to benefit those in the community; <br /> and <br /> • <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses relating <br /> to its 2017-2018 community outreach initiative and community meetings in West Hawai`i: <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfer/approapriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
