RESOLUTION NO. 416 17

A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
UNITED WAY FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2017-2018 COMMUNITY
OUTREACH INITIATIVE AND COMMUNITY MEETINGS IN WEST HAWAII.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way (HIUW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier community;
and
WHEREAS, HIUW partners with 38 agencies and 48 community programs by
supporting local community organizations that focus on health and wellness efforts related to
substance use and abuse prevention; and
WHEREAS, HIUW and partners reached over 75% of Hawai`i Island as a result of its
community outreach initiative; and
WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting funds to assist with advertising expenses relating to its
2017-2018 community outreach initiative, and to help pay for tables, chairs, and equipment
needed to hold community meetings in West Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs and
organizations that promote a healthy and safe environment to benefit those in the community;
and
•
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses relating
to its 2017-2018 community outreach initiative and community meetings in West Hawai`i:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfer/approapriates the following amount as set forth below:

OUT AND FROM:
010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC—Contingency Relief $3,000
CREDITED TO:
010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $3,000

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
