RESOLUTION NO. 427 1
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET,
INC., TO SUPPLY ADDITIONAL FOOD TO THE PAHOA PANTRY.
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission
is to end hunger in Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is affiliated with the Pahoa Pantry, which is
operated by New Hope Christian Fellowship Puna at the Pahoa Neighborhood Facility; and
WHEREAS, the Pahoa Pantry purchases food from The Food Basket, Inc., and
distributes it to needy families on the second Friday of the month in a safe, alcohol- and drug-
free environment; and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is requesting funds to supply additional food to the
Pahoa Pantry to continue serving the community into the new year; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports drug- and alcohol-free events
that strengthen families and communities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc., to supply additional food to the
Pahoa Pantry.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
