RESOLUTION NO. 430 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAII
FOR ITS 2018 D.A.R.E. DAY EVENT IN WEST HAWAII.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that is committed
to teaching elementary, middle, and high school students how to make responsible decisions to
help lead a safe and healthy life; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Day is an annual event which recognizes and celebrates fifth
through eighth graders from Hawai`i Island schools who have completed and graduated from the
10-session D.A.R.E. program; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i will be hosting D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance
Education)Day in May 2018 for students in West Hawai`i who have completed the D.A.R.E.
program; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai`i is requesting funds to assist with purchasing supplies,
materials, and refreshments for the 2018 D.A.R.E. Day event in West Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth
programs that promote alcohol-and-drug free activities, such as the D.A.R.E. Day event; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawai`i for its 2018 D.A.R.E. Day event in West
Hawai`i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transferred/appropriated the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
