N�Y OF M,-t <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -•� °" �•�= STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> 432 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF BIG <br /> ISLAND DRUG COURT,INC., TO PAY FOR SERVICES FOR PARTICIPANTS OF <br /> THE BIG ISLAND DRUG COURT AND VETERANS TREATMENT COURT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Drug Court was established on Hawai`i Island in 2002 to <br /> provide intense supervision of participants dealing with substance abuse in collaboration with the <br /> Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, Office of the Public Defender, Hawai`i Police Department, <br /> Adult Probation Division of the Third Circuit Court, and the State Department of Public Safety; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,the Big Island Veterans Treatment Court, is a specialized treatment <br /> program for veterans that provides intense supervision of participants in collaboration with the <br /> U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, Office of the Public <br /> Defender, Hawai`i Police Department, Adult Probation Division of the Third Circuit Court, and <br /> Department of Public Safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose purpose is to secure funds for drug courts in Hawai`i County, which includes <br /> the planning and implementation of drug court related services; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc., is requesting funds to pay for <br /> services to participants of the Big Island Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court programs in <br /> Hawai`i County, with emphasis on services to Big Island Veterans; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to improve the <br /> criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other <br /> criminal justice agencies and the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc. to pay for <br /> services for participants of the Big Island Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court. <br />
