Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 410-17, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 410-17, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication
No. 604 dated November 15, 2017, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement
with the University of Hawai`i.
This resolution provides $9,680 from the Department of Research and Development to the
University of Hawaii, to fund its "Innovative Agricultural Research to control Rough Sweet
Potato Weevil" research proposal. Funds would be used to evaluate two promising insecticides
and evaluate 12 sweet potato varieties reported to have resistance to insects.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 410-17,
and recommends its adoption.
