COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> TE OP.18. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 443 1 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KAHUA PA'A MUA, <br /> INC., FOR PROJECT REACH OUT,A SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAM FOR <br /> SCHOOLS IN HAMAKUA. <br /> WHEREAS, Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, strives to <br /> enhance communities through economic development, conservation/preservation, and social and <br /> educational programs for youth and adults; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., is collaborating with other community organizations <br /> to co-sponsor Project Reach Out, a suicide prevention program for schools in Hamakua; and <br /> WHEREAS, Project Reach Out inspires and fosters hope and strength in our youth today <br /> by building pathways for our younger generation to learn how to reach out when in need and to <br /> successfully work through all challenges in life, whether big or small; and <br /> WHEREAS, Project Reach Out will be presented at Honoka`a High and Intermediate <br /> School, Kanu o ka `Aina New Century Public Charter School, Laupahoehoe Community Public <br /> Charter School, and Pa'auilo Intermediate School; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., is requesting funds to help with speaker fees, <br /> clinical therapist fees,honorarium, airfare, hotel, car rental, mileage for volunteers, meals, sound <br /> system and audiovisual equipment(screen and projector)rental, office materials, and <br /> miscellaneous supplies for Project Reach Out; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports Project Reach Out and its <br /> prevention efforts to help keep Hawai`i County's youth safe and healthy; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Kahua Pa'a Mua, Inc., for Project Reach Out. <br />
