RESOLUTION NO. 447 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
UNITED WAY FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2017-2018 COMMUNITY
OUTREACH INITIATIVE AND COMMUNITY MEETINGS IN EAST HAWAII.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way (HIUW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier community;
and
WHEREAS, HIUW collaborates with 54 health and human service programs that reach
over 75% of Hawai`i Island families and individuals each year; and
WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting funds to assist with advertising expenses relating to its
2017-2018 community outreach initiative and to purchase tables, chairs, and equipment for its
community meetings in East Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs and
organizations that promote a healthy and safe environment for the benefit of the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses relating
to its 2017-2018 community outreach initiative and community meetings in East Hawai`i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
