RESOLUTION NO. 456 18
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
DONATION OF FIVE HUNDRED (500) HOME MONITORING
DEVICES TO THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, State Farm Insurance, along with Canary are donating five
hundred (500) Canary home monitoring units valued at $199 each to the Hawaii
Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be distributed to firefighters as part of
State Farm Insurance's and Canary's joint "Protect the Protectors" campaign;
and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations
of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in
real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County
Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property
which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may
be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of
this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the
Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this donation.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Anna Browne, Account Manager, Business Development,
Canary, 600 W. 28th Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001-1108 and to Heather
Paul, Public Affairs Specialist, Safety & Innovation, State Farm, Bloomington, IL
61710.
