RESOLUTION NO. 461 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII
VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC.,
TO PURCHASE 10 TELESCOPING FLAGPOLES.
WHEREAS, the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion
Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran
organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated numerous
projects at the County's West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha 0 Na Po`e Koa 0
Hawai`i Komohana(WHVC) in honor of our veterans; and
WHEREAS, 25-foot, telescoping flagpoles were purchased about 10 years ago for
WHVC and more than half are now broken; and
WHEREAS, WHVCDEA has requested funds to purchase 10 telescoping flagpoles to
replace the existing ones at WHVC; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139 a 2 A of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity,
service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to purchase 10 telescoping flagpoles for
WHVC.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
