HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 468 Draft 01 2016-2018 • ��tY OF N,• ''I• • COUNTY OF HAWAII •� �'- ��«- STATE OF HAWAII ,,., ,.;.�rE OFMF'� RESOLUTION NO. 468 '113 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA HARVEST, INC.,FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE EXPANSION OF ITS KEIKI LEARNING GARDEN. WHEREAS, Hamakua Harvest, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions a thriving and resilient Hamakua community where the rich agricultural heritage is honored and cultivated into a collaborative and sustainable future; and WHEREAS, in 2015, Hamakua Harvest, Inc., initiated the Keiki Learning Garden, an "outdoor classroom"that is a hands-on, youth development and education program designed to teach agriculture, food production, and sustainable land management; and WHEREAS, Hamakua Harvest, Inc.,would like to expand its Keiki Learning Garden in both size and scope and is requesting funds to pay for instructors and garden supplies; and WHEREAS, one of the Department of Research and Development's goals is to support programs and organizations that support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to build skills and capacity in the farm community; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Hamakua Harvest, Inc.,to assist with expenses relating to the expansion of its Keiki Learning Garden. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $23500 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief $2,500 CREDITED TO: 010.161.5161.22 Department of Research and Development Agriculture R&D OCE 115 Misc. Contract Services (Hdmdkua Harvest, Inc. — Keiki Learning Garden) $2,500 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
