Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 653, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 653, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated December 14, 2017,
nominates Mr. John R. Replogle of the Ka`u District to the Hawai`i County Windward Planning
Commission.
Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Mr. Replogle who appeared in
person. Mr. Replogle is a registered Democrat who was born and raised on Hawai`i Island and,
if confirmed, will serve a term ending December 31, 2021.
Several Council Members commented in favor of Mr. Replogle's nomination. The vote was then
taken with seven Council Members voting"aye." Chair Eoff stated that Mr. Replogle didnot
need to appear at the Council meeting on January 24, 2018, for confirmation of his appointment.
Pursuant to Section 6-7.3 of the Hawai`i County Charter, members of the Windward Planning
Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 653, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of John R. Replogle to the Hawaii
County Windward Planning Commission.
