Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (b), of the Hawai`i County Code, which
states that a gift or donation of money, securities, or personal property not covered by the
capitalization procedures (of the Department of Finance) shall be submitted to the
Council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the following
donation:
40 bentos with a total value of approximately $304, are being donated by Café 100,
969 Kilauea Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
Please send a letter of appreciation to Gail Miyashiro c/o Café 100, 969 Kilauea Avenue,
Hilo, Hawai`i 96720. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Hauoli

A. REQUEST:
To accept the donation of 40 Bentos from Café 100 to the Hawaii Police Department
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Café 100 is donating 40 Bentos to the County of Hawai'i for use by the Police Department which was used at
a hostage standoff in the Puna District on 12/19/2017. The estimated value of the Bentos is approximately
$304.00

RE: Communication No. 698 : Letter of Acceptance of a$304 Donation to Hawai`i
County Police Department
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of •
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
