SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT:
GOVERNMENT ROAD — NO PARKING ON PAVEMENT
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5 (Parking),
Section 24-279, Schedule 27 (Parking on pavement prohibited at all times), paragraph
(c) South Hilo be amended by adding new items:
"GOVERNMENT ROAD (TMK 2-7-029), NORTH HAMAKUA SIDE, FROM A
POINT FIVE HUNDERED FIFTY-SEVEN FEET WEST OF OLD
MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY TO WESTERN TERMINUS."
"GOVERNMENT ROAD (TMK 2-7-029), SOUTH HILO SIDE."
Government Road is a narrow road, roughly 14' wide. The intent of these amendments
is to restrict parking on the pavement so cars and emergency vehicles can get through,
while still allowing parking in areas off the pavement.
