RESOLUTION NO. 479 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO '0 KA`U KAKOU TO
PURCHASE SUPPLIES FOR THE KEIKI EMERGENCY GO BAG.
WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors and
supports community activities in the district of Ka`u that enhance the quality of life for keiki,
kupuna, businesses, and the greater Ka`u community; and
WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou is working in partnership with the Discovery Harbour
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to co-sponsor creating a keiki emergency go
bag that would be readily accessible in the event of an emergency; and
WHEREAS, the keiki emergency go bag would contain items such as pictures of loved
ones, identification with address and phone numbers, basic necessity items such as a flashlight,
batteries, toiletries, bandages, and other special items for their security and comfort until the
emergency is over; and
WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou is requesting funds to purchase items for its keiki
emergency go bag, to include supplies, snacks, and other basic necessities needed in an
emergency situation; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports efforts to help keep
Hawai`i County youth safe and healthy; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139 (a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to '0 Ka`u Kakou to assist with expenses for the keiki
emergency go bags.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
