' OF H '' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> �rF OF,N,'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 480 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION URGING THE HAWAII STATE LEGISLATURE TO SUPPORT A <br /> BILL FOR AN ACT REQUIRING THAT EACH DISTRICT HEALTH OFFICER BE A <br /> PYHSICIAN LICENSED IN THE STATE OF HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS,the Council of the County of Hawai`i supports state legislation that would <br /> require that each District Health Officer be a physician, licensed in the state of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the position of District Health Officer carries with it many responsibilities, <br /> including but not limited to; serving the community with proficiencies in emergency <br /> preparedness, family health services, public health nursing,services for the developmentally <br /> delayed, environmental health services which includes vector control, clean air, clean water, and <br /> sanitation programs, vital statistics (births, marriages, deaths), and mental health services ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the District Health Officer must also be familiar with a multitude of <br /> conditions and situations unique to our island, and must be able to make health assessments <br /> based on sound medical training, experience and knowledge; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> Hawai`i State Legislature is urged to support a bill for an act requiring that each District Health <br /> Officer be a physician licensed in the state of Hawai`i. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawai`i County Council supports all efforts by <br /> the Legislature to require that each District Health Officer in the State of Hawai`i be a physician <br /> licensed in the State of Hawai`i. <br />
