Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 685, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 685, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated January 4, 2018, nominates
Tristie K. Licoan to the Hawai`i County South Kohala Development Plan Action Committee.
Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Ms. Licoan who appeared in
person. Ms. Licoan has been a lifelong resident of Hawai`i and is not a member of any political
party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on January 31, 2020.
Several Council Members commented in favor of Ms. Licoan. The vote was then taken with 8
Council Members voting "aye." Chair Eoff stated that Ms. Licoan did not need to appear at the
next Council meeting for confirmation of her appointment.
Pursuant to Article 3, Section 16-5 of the Hawai`i County Code, the Community Development
Plan Action Committees shall consist of nine members, and shall be appointed by the Mayor and
approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 685, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Tristie K. Licoan to the Hawai`i
County South Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee.
